     Most nutritionists and physicians advise that weight loss can only be achieved through reducing food intake while increasing the amount of calories you burn through energy. Research shows that green tea extract seems to perform the burning of calories required in dieters to lose weight although the mechanisms behind its action are unclear.

What's the Proof?

     Clinical studies conducted by Dr. Abdul Dulloo, of the University of Geneva in Switzerland's brought the conclusion that green tea weight loss programs raises metabolic rates and speeds up fat oxidation. As well, stimulation of thermogenesis and fat oxidation by the green tea extract did not raise participants' heart rates. This proof can be used to render green tea superior to other stimulant diet drugs, which can have adverse cardiac effects.
As well, recent studies in China showed that a capsule containing the extracts, enriched with other tea antioxidants, could reduce cholesterol by 16% on average.
